What Should I Practise Between Portuguese Lessons?

Use a repeatable practice loop

Choose language from the most recent lesson rather than collecting unrelated new material.

1. Recall: Cover the notes and reconstruct key phrases or examples.
2. Listen: Replay a short, level-appropriate recording and identify familiar words, rhythm and stressed syllables.
3. Repeat: Copy a few complete phrases, then say them without the audio.
4. Personalise: Change the examples so they describe your life, work, travel or relationships.
5. Speak: Record a short response or answer likely follow-up questions aloud.
6. Notice: Write down one recurring difficulty to discuss in the next lesson.

This can be divided across several days. The exact duration matters less than returning to the language before it becomes unfamiliar again.

Reuse corrections

Do not only reread a teacher’s correction. Say the corrected version, place it in two new sentences and use it in a later speaking task. If the same problem returns, keep it as a personal practice target rather than treating every error as equally urgent.

Keep input understandable

Music, series and podcasts can increase contact with Portuguese, but choose short sections you can revisit. Passive exposure is more useful when you also notice, retrieve or respond to something.
