Portuguese Conversation Class or Structured Course?
Choose a structured Portuguese course when you need new language, an ordered progression and systematic feedback. Choose a conversation class when you already have enough vocabulary and sentence patterns to benefit from extended speaking and listening. Many learners use both: structured lessons build the foundation, while guided conversation helps retrieve, adapt and use that language with other people.
Decide what is missing
Conversation practice and structured teaching solve different problems. If you regularly run out of basic language, do not understand common patterns or repeat errors without knowing why, you probably need structured instruction. If you know the language on paper but hesitate, translate slowly or struggle with unpredictable replies, guided conversation may be the missing practice.

A conversation class should still have purpose and facilitation. Simply placing several learners in a call does not ensure equal speaking time, useful topics or constructive feedback.
A combined approach
Use a course to learn a pattern, practise it in controlled examples and receive correction. Then use a conversation session to retrieve that pattern while telling a story, solving a problem or responding to follow-up questions. Bring recurring difficulties back to the structured lesson.
Complete beginners can join supported conversation activities, but they may need models, preparation and shorter turns. More experienced learners can handle greater unpredictability.
